Why we built The Rooster

The problem we saw

Rec directors were running real events with a sign-up form, a spreadsheet for payments, a separate bracket tool, and a group chat for questions. Every change meant updating four places, and teams still asked for the schedule.

The Rooster started as a way to hold all of that in one system: the event, the teams, the money, the games, and the updates.

Why slow pitch first

Slow-pitch softball has the pieces that stress a system: divisions, team caps, multiple fields, pool play, and brackets on a tight weekend. Getting it right there means the rest of rec sports gets easier.

Where we are going

The long-term goal is to support recreational competition broadly, one sport at a time, and only after the format works for real directors. We would rather ship fewer features that hold up on game day.

• Directors come first

  The person running the event has the hardest job. The tools should make that job smaller.

• One place to look

  Teams should not hunt through forms, sheets, and group chats to find a game time.

• Clear money

  Fees are shown before checkout, and there is no monthly bill to run an event.

• Answer the director

  When something breaks during an event, you get a real person, not a ticket queue.
